LMC ITC Student Monitors
Information about the LMC ITC Monitors
The LMC employs University of Iowa students to serve as LMC ITC monitors. Monitors are responsible for greeting patrons of the Language Media Center (LMC) Instructional Technology Center (ITC), checking in and out digital and paper materials to students and instructors for viewing/use in LMC and for teaching, assisting students and instructors with the One Button Studio (OBS), the Digital Audio Laboratory, and opening and closing the LMC ITC. Our student workers also monitor the LMC ITC compiling and reporting ITC use statistics, assisting patrons in the ITC, troubleshooting problems as they arise, and monitoring printers (fill with paper, fix jams, etc.).
Qualifications of an LMC ITC Monitor
The LMC staff looks for University of Iowa students who have basic computer knowledge and a strong sense of customer service. The monitor candidates should be self motivators who are interested in learning about technology especially for language learning and who are able to deal with a variety of people and situations. Preferred candidates will have more extensive knowledge of computers and computer software in MAC and PC environments and with audio-visual equipment. Experience studying a language is also a positive as our patrons include instructors and students studying foreign languages and ESL.
